RidgewoodRidgewood Goes ‘BLUE’ for Diabetes Awareness
On Wednesday, Nov 12 at The Village Council Meeting at 8pm as Mayor Aronsohn proclaimed Diabetes Awareness in the Village of Ridgewood. Students in the district are asked to wear blue to show their support on Friday, Nov 14; World Diabetes Day. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is the only global organization that is working to create a world without Type One Diabetes. T1D is an autoimmune disease that has no cure. The Following businesses are helping to support The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation:

* Ridgewood Hot Bagels will be selling blue bagels on Friday , Nov 14.

*During the month of November stop in At Moxie Salon for your BLUE hair piece for $10. All proceeds of this will be donated to JDRF. On Saturday, Nov 15 and Sunday Nov 16, Moxie Salon will be BLOWING OUT DIABETES with blow-outs for $25. $5 of each blow out will be donated to JDRF. * During the month of November, Carousel Cupcakes will be selling Blue Velvet cupcakes. 10% of these sales will be donated to JDRF

*  The Rock to Stop Diabetes Concert on Saturday, Nov 15 from 12-4pm at Christ Church. Admission $10

* Student Walk to Cure Diabetes- Sunday, Nov 23 at 2pm at Ridgewood High School .

Reel Voices Film Festival- Friday, November 14th at 7:30 pm. 
Academy-Award nominated director James Spione will present his film “Silenced” followed by a q&a this Friday at 7:30pm at The Ridgewood Public Library. Cafe opens at 6:45 pm. Register here.

3-on-3 Charity Basketball Tournament-  Saturday, November 15th from 10am-4pm. 
This tournament has been created to help local Orchard school mother of 3, Kerrie Prettitore, who was diagnosed with colon cancer in February 2014 and is now battling a rare genetic disorder as a result of chemotherapy treatment. Please consider participating in the charity 3 on 3 tournament to help Kerrie and her family. All proceeds will go directly to her family. Community Outreach Program- Tuesday, November 18, 7pm to 9 pm.
In an effort to educate and engage our parents, guardians and the public on the critical issue of drug abuse, the Ridgewood Board of Education has invited Former Drug Enforcement Administration agent Doug Collier to present his engaging program, “The Perfect Storm: Battling the Prescription Drug and Heroin Epidemic.” This free presentation will take place at Ben Franklin Middle School, 335 N. Van Dien Avenue.

waiting for henrySociety Cafe presents Waiting for Henry / Steve Conte – Saturday, November 22nd
The Society Café  Concert Series offers a series of acoustic singer/songwriter concerts at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood.  Wine, dessert and beverages, all provided by local vendors, are available before the shows and during intermission. Music starts at 8:00. Wine, dessert and coffee are served at 7:00 when doors open. Advance tickets are $20 and can be purchased on the Society Café website, www.societycafeconcertseries.com. TIC TOC Children’s Theatre: “The Greatest Pirate Story Never Told” – Sunday, November 23rd at 2 pm.
A ragtag crew of pirates, led by a zany captain who once called Glen Rock home, has a big problem that only kids who love adventure stories can solve. These pirates will tell the tale of their predicament – caused by a wacky sea witch who flung them far into the future – in the original, Off-Broadway production of “The Greatest Pirate Story Never Told”  at Ben Franklin Middle School in Ridgewood. Tickets – $16 each with a discount for a group of 10 or more.  Contact www.tictoc.org or 201-447-9110 for more info.
